Many Astrologers discuss the upcoming Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction on the 21st of December.
You’ve probably read about it in the past weeks. So, I will try not to repeat all too much of what you may have heard already numerous times.
Quick Facts:
- The cycle repeats itself roughly every 20 years.
- A Jupiter/Saturn conjunction is associated with faith, materialism, belief systems, issues of wealth, expansive as well as restrictive energies trying to merge.
- The upcoming cycle starts a whole new 200-year long period of Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions in air signs – the last 200 were in earth sings.
- Although the conjunction takes place at 0° of Aquarius, this planetary alignment should not be mistaken for the astrological concept of the “Age of Aquarius” which is a method connected to the precessional rotation of the Earth.
As I just mentioned, for the past 200 years the Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions occurred within earth signs (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn).
The outcomes unfolded in:
Individual countries waging world-wide wars and fighting for resources
The industrial revolution
Expansion of materialism
Creation of rigid and dependable structures
Wealth accumulation and widespread private land-ownership
In turn for their efforts, the masses were provided with goods and physical guarantees.
Traditional forms of structure, tangible security and the old order may now be arriving at a crossroad:
On December 21st, the cycles are about to shift into air sings.
The future in the Air?
How this shift will actually look like may prove difficult to predict as energies can be manifested in a variety of ways.
What can be ascertained is that Jupiter/Saturn in air-signs (Aquarius, Libra, Gemini) have a strong focus on social affairs, ideas, knowledge and connectiveness.
The well-known forte of the air element is its adaptability and fluidity: its inherent nature to connect, to socialise and to move unhindered.
Specially Aquarius is known to have a penchant for revolutionary ideologies, detachment and love of technology.
Everything and everyone connected
As these energies manifest in the real world, the digital world will likely transform and replace traditional forms of communication and learning (schools, Universities, print media, etc.)
An ever-growing exchange of knowledge and ideas, as well as the construction of new social value systems, can take precedency.
Blockchain technologies, 5G, A.I. and the expansion into space are the likely backbone of this transition.
A challenge for the traditionally more earthy-inclined may be that private ownership, wealth accumulation may become less accessible in the future.
Certain traditional rights may be somehow limited, restricted or redistributed for the “greater good”.
The individual may loose it’s front seat to the collective and our relationship towards mother nature will likely undergo a redefinition.
In the short term, the focus is on the first cycle starting on the 21st of December 2020 that lasts until 2040.
Bumpy Beginnings?
Jupiter/Saturn meeting on a critical degree of a fixed sign (0° of Aquarius) is not exactly an easy, peaceful place to start from.
Here, Aquarius my initially show us the inherently shadow side. Aquarians can be the the odd one out and behave unpredictably.
Contrary to common belief, the sign of the Water-bearer isn’t just about a rebellious, people loving, fairness-seeking reformist. On the flip side also lurk fairly fixed (sometimes borderline fanatical) ideas. We find freaky rebels, as well as cult leaders within this sign.
Whilst Jupiter/Saturn fuse their inherently contrary energies within Aquarius, the Sun (also on a critical degree 0°) and Mercury make a fairly challenging square to our wounded, unheard parts: Chiron in Aries. Feelings of despair, being unheard or unappreciated may come to the surface.
Pluto (still slowly creeping forwards in old patriarchal Capricorn) makes an exact square to fiery Mars and Eris who are also both in the combative sign of Aries.
This points to themes of individual discord, striving for freedom, action and autonomy (Mars). This drive would be challenged by the imposing energy from relentless authority (Pluto).
The Lighter Side – Healing & Community:
Shortly after the Sun in Capricorn challenges and activates our inner wounds (Chiron), she will benevolently trine (120°) Uranus in Taurus. This is an opportunity to implement a financial overhaul that has long been on the cards: a technology driven, well-planned, self reliant economy powered by Digital Money and Bitcoin? Maybe here we’ll finally implement some radical new way of how we relate to our planet, to nature and our nutrition? Some of those inequalities (that have long been weighing upon earth) may change.
The chart of the moment presents us with an opportunity for the individual to thrive. Venus in Sagittarius trines our wounded healer: Chiron.
Pursuing artistic interests and forming stronger bonds with likeminded, visionary people can benefit us more than ever.
If the pain that is experienced during this period can be consciously met with an open, benevolent love for a higher, spiritual purpose, profound healing will likely occur.
Finding our individual, self-expressive nature will certainly be a challenge, but the most immediate nature is still a dualistic one. The light and the shadow can be expressed in many ways.
It’s our personal responsibility to remain with an open mind, aware, conscious whilst keeping a critical mind to whatever may be imposed upon us.
